TAMESIDE NC WIN
ENG NETBALL SUPER CUP
Tameside NC won the first ever ENG U16 Netball Super Cup after a 53-16 win against Gibraltar U16. This victory capped off an incredible 6 months for the Manchester-based side who started their journey at our northern finals where they came runners up and then went on to win the nationals in December.
This event was built to offer clubs in this age group the opportunity to reach the pinnacle of the prize structure we offer. Our job is to create opportunities that inspire everyone competing and give them the motivation to work hard and being enthusiastic about the sport they are doing. Gibraltar accepted the challenge of being the first team to take on our U16 national champions when many avoided the challenge and they played their part in an eventful build-up and game.
The game itself saw Tameside NC heavily backed to secure the win, but in the first quarter, Gibraltar managed to compete well against Tameside and went in at the break 10-6 down and definitely was holding their own.
As the second quarter got underway Tameside started to pull away and dominate proceedings which forced Gibraltar to make many errors. As we got to half time the score was 21-12.
After the break, Tameside NC was just too good for Gibraltar who was probably a bit annoyed after such a positive start to the game. In the end, Tameside ran out 53-16 winners and secured the No.1 title in the ENG netball world.
